Bollywood actor Aamir Khan, known for his perfectionist approach and social commitment, recently revealed that he gave up five major brand endorsements while working on his TV show Satyamev Jayate. The show, which addressed sensitive social issues such as female foeticide, child abuse, and honour killings, demanded a level of integrity that Khan felt must reflect in every aspect of his public image.
“People write I earned a lot from that show. I actually lost a lot of money,” Aamir admitted. “But the learnings I got from it are truly priceless.” He explained that endorsing luxury cars or consumer products while simultaneously discussing critical societal issues felt deeply contradictory. “I didn’t want to be talking about female foeticide on one hand and selling cars in ads on the other. It wouldn’t be right,” he said.
Aamir’s decision highlights his commitment to authenticity and social responsibility over commercial gain. By aligning his public persona with the values he promoted on Satyamev Jayate, Khan set a rare example in the world of celebrity endorsements. His choice, though financially costly, earned him immense respect from audiences who appreciated his sincerity and courage.
